We continue to flesh out various Order Management System (OMS) features B2B businesses need, and our latest is the ability to Void a Shipment. Whether something was marked Shipped prematurely or by accident, or other reasons related to your business workflows, this adds additional flexibility into managing the various components of an Order.
With Voiding a Shipment, you can revert the items in that shipment to be shippable again. A Void Reason is captured so your team will know why a shipment was rolled back. Here is an overview of how it works.
The Void option is a new addition in the View Shipment screen, accessible from the three dots at the top of the window.
A drawer will come out when it is selected, and will capture the reason for the voiding of the shipment. A message on screen will affirm the return of those items and quantities to be once again shippable.
The Shipment List tab of the Order screen will now reflect the status of each Shipment, listing if it has been Voided or Completed.
How an Order Status is impacted by the Voiding of a Shipment depends on where an Order is in its process of being fulfilled:
- If this is the first Shipment of an Order, it will roll back to its new Order Status, such as Pending, to confirm no Shipments have been completed.
- If other Shipments have been completed, it will remain in Processing.
- If an Order is marked Complete, it will roll back to Processing.
- If it is listed as Closed, it will remain in Closed status.
