Avalara’s AvaTax solution has long been a powerful tool for merchants. With recent changes following the Supreme Court ruling in “South Dakota v. Wayfair, Inc.”, what was already a complicated and confusing environment has become moreso, with 30 states and the District of Columbia now setting rules on when merchants should collect sales tax from their customers, based on economic nexus rules.
With that in mind, Zoey has recently released an all new version of the Avalara app. This latest edition connects to more Zoey functionality than ever before, and has been carefully vetted by the Avalara team. In this post we’ll cover what’s new, how you can take advantage of the new app, and more information being made available for our merchants.
New Support for Request a Quote
One of Zoey’s most popular additions in the last year has been the launch of Request a Quote, or Draft Orders, which lets a customer build a quote and confirm pricing before checkout. Until recently, there was no way to automatically validate sales tax costs based on the draft order information and the items in the cart. While Zoey’s manual tax rate tables would render, no automated solutions were able to interact with quotes.
This has changed with the release of the latest version of the Avalara app. As long as all the pertinent information needed to calculate tax is available, Avalara can now be referenced during the quote process to automatically determine what tax costs, if any, an order will incur, ensuring a more accurate quote for your customers.
Certified for Sales Tax and Refunds
One way Avalara customers know a particular solution truly supports Avalara’s feature set is confirming they have been certified. In recent weeks Zoey’s Avalara app has passed the Sales Tax and Refunds certification programs.
With this certification, Avalara has independently reviewed that Zoey can work with Avalara in a variety of scenarios, including multi-address shipping, provide accurate information and calculations based on its interactions with Avalara, and feed accurate order information back to Avalara for use in reporting. Zoey customers who are interested in using Avalara can be assured that our integration is comprehensive and works well with Avalara’s solutions for businesses.
